Tornhuset, Malmö

Architectural Competition conversion and extension 'tower' house, was won by Kim Utzon Architects in Copenhagen.

The building now houses the World Maritime University, WMU is an international university which is run by Maritime Organization - IMO, a specialized body that belongs to the United Nations.

Preconal has supplied and installed all glass panels in the facade of the extension part (450 m2). New and existing part of the building connected by a large common atrium over 5 floors clad in with Hansen glass roof (200 m2).

Glass facade elements and glazed roofs are generally 3-glass with solar control glass AGC Ipasol ultra Select 62/29, except in parts the North facade where there is sun protection glass AGC Ipasol neutral 70/39. Inside, Preconal also delivered and mounted a pair of glass partitions.

Design of aluminum parts was done in 3D CAD environment in parallel together with the architect. All assembly and glazing has taken place by the EC mounting in Markaryd.
