Gartnaval Hospital, Glasgow
A bold treatment of the main waiting area roof allows unrestricted views through a structural glass wall to a landscaped patients' garden and the avenue of trees. The entrance drum, with its radial glass and steel canopy is in polished blockwork, blending with the sandfaced blockwork of the walls, and the struck-face block to the gable ends. The overhanging eaves line provides solar shading to the first floor administration accommodation, and a covered service walkway and yard to the plant areas on the West elevation.
