Energy consumption in the modern office can be more than halved but this can come at the expense of the building's indoor air quality and comfort. The 25,000 square meter building in Stavanger Aibel is a good example of energy saving and a good indoor environment. Through new technical solutions, good planning and good cooperation between all parties in the construction process is the energy which dropped to 108 kwh per square meter per year - the best in Norway, says the building's technical contractor YIT.

Both the south and north side mounted a new glass facade, 60cm outside the glass. Between the glass, gratings will be installed on each floor at floor height; making it possible to send people out for cleaning and maintenance. The double glass fašade is part of the building's energy plan; office in the land between the building heated by hot water in the roof, and heating strips in the ceiling tilted toward the window where they will help to avoid cold areas along the windows. In the ceiling and along the walls of the canteen heat strips are fitted for storage.

The glass fitted with automatic blinds, which are adjusted in relation to temperature and sun. Adjustments to protect the work place against harmful sunlight, but will at the top of each floor tilted inward, so that they reflect sunlight and sends daylight into the building.
